Ashley East, 29, of Pacific, MO was transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center by Macon County Ambulance for treatment to moderate injuries sustained from a accident involving a horse drawn cart. Also sustaining moderate injuries was George Keller, 29, of Kirksville, MO. Keller was transported by Air Evac to University Medical Center. Keller had been operating a 1978 Honda Motorcycle. East was an occupant of the motorcycle. Also involved in the accident was Calvin Miller, 21, of LaPlata, MO. Miller had been operating a 1998 horse drawn cart. The accident took place on July 9th, around 6:55PM on US- 156, 4 miles West of LaPlata.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B, the accident occurred as the horse pulling the cart became startled by the approaching motorcycle. The horse crossed the center line and was struck by the motorcycle. Both the East and Keller were ejected from the motorcycle.
