Derek Petre, 28, of Macon, MO was transported by EMS to LaFayette County Regional for treatment of serious injuries resulting after a crash. Petre was driving a 2007 Mazda at the time of the crash. Also involved was David Lauer, 76, of Kansas City, MO. Lauer was driving a 2000 Volvo Tractor Truck. The accident occurred on May 23rd around 7:30AM on US- 24 at Berlin Road. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A, the accident occurred as Lauer was headed Eastbound on US Highway 24, lost control and skidded across the centerline and struck Petre head on.
