Second Infant Death Caused by Drop- Side Crib

In 2008 there was a recall of more than 985,000 drop-side cribs with crib trigger lock and safety peg hardware. Because of a recent death of a 7- month- old girl, the company is re- announcing the recall. The infant was entrapped between the detached drop side and the mattress where she suffocated. The crib had been purchased secondhand and re- assembled without the safety pegs in the bottom tracks. Without the safety pegs the drop side can go off track creating a gap where a child can become trapped. It is unsafe to accept or buy cribs secondhand because of this reason.
