The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a car crash on July 5, 2010 at 4:00p.m. on Sunset Drive, one mile west of Macon. The first car, a 1995 Mitsubishi was driven westbound by 21 year old Gregory Kindle. The second vehicle, an eastbound 1997 Chevrolet S-10, driven by 75 year old Edward Smith with occupant, 20 year old Crystal Smith. Smith made a left turn in the path of Kindle causing Kindle to strike the right front side of Smith.
All were transported by the Macon County Ambulance to Samaritan Hospital in Macon for treatment of their injuries. Kindle received moderate injuries while E. Smith and C. Smith sustained only minor injuries. C. Smith was the only one wearing a seatbelt. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Macon Police Department, the Macon County Fire Department, and Macon County Rescue.
