Gerald Hatfield, 42, and Dustin Hatfield, 10, both of Polo, MO were involved in a crash that occurred at 12:20AM on July 25 at Lake Drive south of Route D, 12 miles southeast of Marceline, MO in Chariton County. According to the MSHP Troop B, Gerald Hatfield was driving a 2004 Dodge when he went off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Dustin Hatfield sustained moderate injuries and was transported by private auto to Perishing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, MO for medical treatment. The MSHP was assisted by the Chariton County Sheriff's Department.
According the MSHP arrest reports, Hatfield was arrested for 1) DWI, 2) Careless and Imprudent Driving, 3) Failure to Secure a Child, and 4) No Car Insurance. Hatfield is being held in the Chariton County jail.
