According to the report of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F, Furqueron, driving a 2004 Chevy, lost control of her vehicle, traveled off the right side of the road, slid down an embankment and came to rest on its top.

Furqueron and Miller were both taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri for treatment of their injuries.

Many times double lettered state highways have more curves and hills and often do not have wide shoulders, if any at all. This can pose even more of a danger to people traveling these roads. According to the Missouri 2008 Traffic Safety Compendium, 3.1% of all crashes in Missouri were on double lettered state highways, such as Route WW, in 2008.
